Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
Gennev menopause-trained physicians will discuss your symptoms, review your health history and determine if you’re a candidate for evidence-based HRT. There are several options for delivery of HRT, each with different pros and cons, and are largely subject to personal preference when choosing. Delivery systems include both systemic (total body) and local (vulva/vaginal) therapy.
- Systemic pills and patches
- Sprays and gels
- Vaginal creams, rings and tables
HRT is the most universally effective treatment for hot flashes and vaginal dryness. It may also provide protection against osteoporosis, heart disease, and even Alzheimer’s disease.*

“Dr Savage was great. She explained to me the newest findings about HRT and breast cancer which was important information in general. It was great to be able to ask the questions that come up as I get further into this stage of life.”
Do we require hormone testing?
Hormone levels are extremely variable and irregular during the perimenopausal transition making these tests inefficient. While it may feel important to know “where you are in menopause," what your physician really needs to know is if you are experiencing problematic symptoms so they may determine how best to treat you. That's why we recommend talking to our Doctors first, then they'll order relevant tests for your symptoms and health history.
FDA-Approved Hormonal Medications
Gennev menopause-trained physicians will review your symptoms and health history to determine if you’re a candidate for hormonal prescriptions that can help ease the transition of perimenopause. Low dose birth control and IUDs can help manage irregular and heavy periods, hot flashes and ease mood swings.

If you’re still having periods, you can still get pregnant. Perimenopausal women have the second highest rate of unintended pregnancies, so some form of birth control is necessary if you are sexually active.

"It made me feel like I was heard, and that I was getting sound advice about my menopause journey... So knowledgeable, professional, warm and caring. Within seconds, I felt like I was talking to a provider in which I could confide and trust."
FDA-Approved Non-Hormonal Medications
For some, hormonal medications are not an option. Our providers can prescribe non-hormonal medications that are proven to help alleviate symptoms. These treatments also offer an alternative for women with a history of cancer.
- Veozah (Fezolinetant)
- Antidepressants - Studies have shown that some anti-depressants may help lower the frequency as well as severity of hot flashes.

News Flash: Veozah (Fezolinetant) has received FDA approval for the treatment of hot flashes for women in menopause. This is the first drug treatment of its kind, and represents a viable option for those who are not able to receive hormone therapy.

“I continue to be very greatful that I was able to access the medication I need to treat the symptoms of menopause (chronic pain, hot flashes, sleep disturbances) I had been suffering from. Thanks again for working with me to alleviate my symptoms.”
